- Back Cap, Dropped Ceilings, Lighting -

Covering the back cap was a bit of a challenge. Because we had to cut the Luann into such custom shapes, I used a piece of cardboard to make a pattern first. I kept putting the cardboard in place, and then altering the cardboard wherever necessary. After about 6 alterations, we used it to cut our first piece of Luann - and wa-la, it worked! It took 3 custom patterns for each side. Luckily the 2 sides were similar enough to use the same pattern, with just minor changes.

The dropped ceilings were Art's idea - and what a *great* idea it was! When we put up the 1" furring strips on the ceiling, we have 2 area's (one in the bedroom, one in the livingroom) where we used 2x4's. Those area's will be about an inch lower than the rest of the ceilings. In the space between the two levels, we will put rope lights for accent lighting.

Happy Birthday Jen!
