July 29, 2005
Well, this entry is really about the progress done the beginning of July, but I didn't take the time to update this website then. We made ourselves put the tools down, and throw some camping stuff together for our annual "Best campout ever" family camping trip. As usual we had a blast! We survived the record heat wave (between 119 and 125 degrees all week) at Lake Havasu. Now we are back in bus mode. We picked up the bus today and ready to get back to work... lets see, where did we leave off?
Just before we left, we did the finishing touches on the front cap, and held up the new visor for a quick peek. We also built the new framing inside the back cap, and smothered it in sikaflex!
Now we are preparing for our upcoming "Side-raising" day. Today we removed the rubber from the rim of the wheel wells on the passenger side. Tomorrow we'll start removing a million rivets to release the top aluminum strips. Art plans to weld some brackets to frame (and/or put screws in the frame) to hold the siding up while we secure it. August 13th is our target date... we hope to get at least this one side done that day. ![]()
