A brief History of 1988 Eagle Model 15 Motorcoach
bearing VIN 1EUBN6A16JB080064
August 1988
Vehicle was delivered new from Eagle in Brownsville, TX to Trailways Commuter Transit (TCT) for operation in the Houston Transit Contract service. The Houston Trailways Commuter Transit operation was part of the Greyhound/Trailways family. I am unable to determine what this vehicle was numbered while in TCT service. I believe the original coach configuration was 45 passenger non-lavatory.
Spring 1993
Greyhound Lines, Inc. receives the vehicle as part of a group of 1988 and 1989 Eagle 15s from TCT at the expiration of the contract. Vehicle was delivered to GLI at Dallas where it sat parked for several months until it was determined to place the bus into regular GLI service. The new vehicle fleet number assigned was 0710. It was assigned to operate primarily charters in the south. The vehicle was financed under a lease agreement with McDonnell-Douglas Financial (MDFC).
Late'93
Vehicle was retrofit with a lavatory and reseated to 43 passenger configuration at Early '94 a vendor in the Shreveport LA area(cannot recall the vendor).
Fall 1994
Vehicle was assigned to operate in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington, British Columbia.)
Spring 1995
Vehicle was re-assigned to operate service in the southeast - generally TX to FL and as far north as I-40. It would remain primarily assigned to this area until retired from Greyhound service.
Early 1996
Vehicle was reconfigured to 47 passenger.
April 1999
Greyhound exercised an early lease termination buyout clause and purchased this vehicle from MDFC along with the others in the group.
May 1999
Greyhound traded the vehicle to MCI/Hausman as part of a new coach purchase. The vehicle was delivered to Hausman Bus Sales in Dallas on May 13, 1999 at which point I have no further record or recollection.
